I've been designing websites with Squarespace and Weebly in recent months. Both design platforms have plenty of online Help documents and active community forums where users help each other. When I come across something I don't know how to do or that isn't working correctly, I start by searching for an answer in the online support documents. But I try not to spend too much time searching on my own before I turn to the company Support teams. I've had great luck with Support teams on both platforms. The answers I received shortened the amount of time I flailed around trying to be successful. In some cases, they were answers I couldn't have known, such as "It's a design limitation and we're looking into fixing it in the future" or "This is what's happening behind the scenes as we see the code on our servers and this is how to fix it."
You don't need to be a professional website designer to use the vast amount of help available. These are platforms designed for do-it-yourselfers to make their own websites, so no question or problem is too small or too simplistic. Supporting yourself doing what you love means knowing when to ask for support from others when you need it. And in time, you'll be able to return the favor.
